Wigan Athletic must win three games in a row to survive

Wigan Athletic’s Ryan Colclough has told the Wigan Post, with the words being report by Wigan Today, that he knows that they must win three games in a row if they want to stay in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following their 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion on Easter Monday, the Latics are currently 23rd in the Championship and are five points off 21st placed Nottingham Forest with just three games to go. That means it is going to be a tough task to escape the bottom three and their relegation could be confirmed this week should they lose to Cardiff City and other results go against them.

And Colclough has admitted that it is now going to be incredibly hard to avoid the drop and that it is likely that they will have to win their last three games of the season if they want to continue playing in the Championship next season. That would not only mean beating Cardiff but also getting victories against Reading and Leeds United.

He said: “We’re aiming to win the last three games and see where that takes us,”

“There’s no point aiming for draws in the position we’re in.”

“Only wins will get us out of trouble, it’s points we need to get out of this.”

“If I can play my part in that and contribute, then great.”

“I’ve really enjoyed it since ‘G’ (Barrow) has come in.”

“He’s given me a lot of chances to show what I can do.”

“I feel I’ve done well with the chances I’ve had, and hopefully I can keep that going to the end of the season.”
