Bristol City fans have the opportunity to watch two matches at Ashton Gate on Saturday with Bristol City Women’s match against Reading Women set to follow the men’s game against Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship.

The club have chosen to stage the FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series fixture at the venue on the same day as The Robins’ match with Barnsley in an attempt to promote women’s football amongst the local community.

Bristol City Women were promoted back to the top flight last season after just one season in the second tier and with the backing of their male counterparts the club are hoping to operate more efficiently in the FA Women’s Super League 1 in the future.

All fans who attend Bristol City’s home fixture with Barnsley have the opportunity to remain inside Ashton Gate after the match and watch the women’s side free of charge with the game kicking off at 6pm.

Bristol City Women usually host their home matches at the 1,500 capacity Stoke Gifford Stadium in Filton with the club having struck up a good relationship with Bristol Academy of Sport. Prior to last season, the club changed their name from Bristol Academy to Bristol City to work in line with the Sky Bet Championship club and it is hoped that the two clubs can work together successfully going forward.
