Rotherham United’s Anthony Forde has told the club website that he hopes the team will finish life in the Sky Bet Championship with a flourish.
At the start of April, Rotherham were condemned to relegation to Sky Bet League One following a loss to Fulham. It was the culmination of a very disappointing season for the Millers who had never looked like avoiding the drop this year. They dropped to the bottom of the Championship early on in the season and rarely looked like they would get off the foot of the table.
However Rotherham do have a few more games to play before they end up dropping into League One, with two of them set to be played at home at the New York Stadium. That’s why Forde wants to make it up to the fans and at least finish the season well to give them hope that next year will be better.
He said: “We’re motivated for every game and we want to win every game,”
“We are relegated but we need results. It’s important that we give something back to the club and the fans. We need to play for pride because the fans deserve that.”
“It’s a tough league but obviously I’ve played in it and have that experience. I think we’ll be able to have a right go and hopefully we can come back up,”
“We’ve got a lot of young lads that will be here next year and if we can add a few more players, I think we’ve got a great chance.”
“I know what it takes to try and get promoted from that league and as I’ve said, it is a tough league. We managed to get to the Play-offs when I was at Walsall and I know it takes a lot of hard work.”
“It’s a long season but you have to keep pushing the whole way through it and that’s what we did and we earned the right to get into the Play-offs but just missed out in the last game by a point and should have really got promoted, but that happens.”
