Leeds: Oscar winning actor tweets support to Whites

Blockbuster star Russel Crowe has Tweeted his support to Leeds United as they look to clinch a playoff spot.

United slipped out the playoff places on Monday with a shock 1-0 loss to Wolves at Elland Road,

Despite the marginal defeat, Garry Monk’s side remain one of the favourites to salvage a playoff spot and are only behind sixth-placed Fulham on goal difference.

Crowe, who won an Oscar award for his role in Gladiator in 2000, is a life-long supporter of the Yorkshire giants and is fully supporting the Whites’ hopes of ending their 13-year tenure outside the top-flight.

The Australia-based actor tweeted from his personal account:

The famous actor joins the ranks of Whites supporters who are also cheering Leeds on ahead of three very important matches for United.

The Whites travel to struggling Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon, before hosting Norwich City at Elland Road. The Whites then travel to Wigan Athletic, who are fighting for survival, on the final day of the season.

Should Leeds be victorious in their final three matches, then they should be almost certain of a play-off spot. However, Fulham currently stand in their way in sixth-place.

The Cottagers have made a late surge for the playoffs and travel to Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Then Fulham host Brentford in the final home game of the normal season, before travelling to Yorkshire to take on Sheffield Wednesday on the final day,

With the play-off places still so tight, fans of Fulham and Leeds will be looking to a nailbiting end to the season, with plenty more late drama to be assured.
