Jon Taylor admits Rotherham United let the fans down this season

Rotherham United’s Jon Taylor has admitted to the Sheffield Star that the team let down the fans this season.

The Millers have been crushingly disappointing this season with relegation to Sky Bet League One being confirmed earlier in the month. This was no surprise to the fans who expected to drop back down to the third tier of English football for a long time with the way their team was playing and the fact that current head coach Paul Warne was the third of the season will not have helped matters.

And while the team must start looking forward so they can make a quick return to the Sky Bet Championship next season, Taylor, who signed from Peterborough United for a club record fee in the summer, has been reflecting on his first season in South Yorkshire. And the winger has admitted that the entire team has let the fans down after dropping back down to League One after three years in the Championship.

He said: “We’ve got to aim for promotion next season,”

“We’ve got a great squad (for League One). That can be the only aim, and I’m sure we’ll do it if everyone sticks together.”

“Everyone wants to well for themselves, the club and the manager for next year. We’ve let everyone down this season.”

“We’ve been losing nearly every week,”

“Hopefully, next year we’ll be winning nearly every week, providing memories for everyone and getting promoted.”

“The basis is definitely there. We just need a few key signings.”

“I think we will be winning a lot more games in League One. It sounds daft to say it, because we have been losing every week in the Championship, but there are some really good players here.”
