Nottingham Forest: McCormack career to take a fresh twist

Things seemed to be going wrong for Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack when he couldn’t scale the walls of his house to get to Villa training, incurring the wrath of boss Steve Bruce. Now according to the Telegraph, things are escalating for the £12 million Scot.

At Villa and ‘EscapeGate’, Steve Bruce was left fuming at McCormack’s excuse for missing training, saying that he couldn’t scale his house walls after his electric gates stuck closed.

The Guardian said at the time, and much in-depth, that Geordie Bruce was refusing to even entertain the thought of picking McCormack until he bucked up his attitude and ideas towards training. Speaking quite robustly on the matter, Bruce said on the matter:

“In my opinion he is not fit enough to play and he will not play unless his attitude towards training and missing training improves. If it does I’ll reconsider but if he continues to miss training, as he has done, that will be the situation.”

Unable to make amends, McCormack was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and even that now seems to have ground to a halt according to the Telegraph. McCormack has only featured for Forest seven times since his switch scoring once in a 5-1 loss to Norwich and providing an assist in the 3-2 loss to Brentford. Those contributions and 333 minutes are the sum of not only his Nottingham Forest career to date, but also full stop.

The reason for this is that many media sources, including the Telegraph, are reporting that Ross McCormack has not trained at Forest for three weeks due to what are being termed “personal issues” and that he is “unlikely to play again this season.”

The Telegraph go on to say that the Scotland international was struggling with an Achilles issue last month but go on to report that “he has not reported for treatment at either Forest of Villa, his parent club.”

With Forest paying what the Telegraph term “a huge chunk of his £48,000-a-week wages,” this situation will not only rankle the club but also the fans themselves.

Forest lost at Cardiff on Easter Monday, meaning that the Reds are only one precarious point above the bottom three. Now they are also having to carry a passenger in McCormack, a player who has the skill and potential to shoot them away from trouble.
