Adeyemi, Rotherham United may still sign Cardiff City midfielder

Rotherham United may still sign Cardiff City midfielder

Rotherham United head coach Paul Warne has told the Sheffield Star that they may still be able to sign Tom Adeyemi from Cardiff City.

While the Millers have had a miserable season and their relegation to Sky Bet League One has already been confirmed way before the end of the season, one of the few things that Rotherham have enjoyed is the performances of Adeyemi. Even with Rotherham being very poor, Adeyemi played very well and was able to score six goals in 27 appearances.

However his future has been in doubt as he has only been on loan at Rotherham. It had been thought that the South Yorkshire side would snap him up at the end of the season as his contract was set to expire, but their relegation put that in doubt as Adeyemi certainly has the ability to play in the Sky Bet Championship.

But Warne has now revealed that there is still a chance that they’ll sign Adeyemi in the summer as they look to build their squad so they can make a quick return to the Championship.

He said: “It would be nice if I could keep Tom. I’m a realist. I know the situation he’s in,”

“But I think we would have a good chance to keep him. He wants to play here because he likes it here and he’s doing well here.”

“I spoke to Tom jokingly and said if he keeps scoring it’s going to add to his value,”

“I told him £50 a week! “Building in the summer is crucial, getting the players in we want and having that spirit that I think we’ve got at the moment in the dressing room.”
