Aston Villa in competition with Premier League teams in attempt to sign £4m midfielder

Aston Villa are in competition with a whole host of Premier League teams as they aim to get the signature of Amiens’ Guessouma Fofana according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The French Second Division side Amiens were in a match against Le Havre on Friday night and plenty of scouts from England were at the match alongside the Frenchman who decided to take in a night of football. One of the teams represented by the many scouts in attendance at the match was Aston Villa, who are planning to make a swoop for the £4m midfielder in the summer to help in their attempt to get back to the Premier League.

However they are set to face a lot of competition to sign Fofana as plenty of Premier League scouts were also in attendance to watch the midfielder. Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Stoke City all had scouts watching Fofana and they could make moves of their own for the midfielder in the summer if they were impressed with his performance against Le Havre.

What it means that Aston Villa will have a tough challenge if that want Fofana to be wearing the famous claret and blue next season. They have got plenty of money to spend as they will still have parachute payments from their relegation from the Premier League, though the club is looking to cut their budget after splashing out way too much on flops after they dropped down to the Sky Bet Championship last year.
