QPR manager admits to vicious after-match dressing down

If it hadn’t been for an Idrissa Sylla consolation goal deep into time added on, QPR’s loss against lowly Bristol City would have looked even worse than it was.

Goals from Marlon Pack (14′) and Jamie Paterson (40′) gave Bristol City a two-goal lead that they kept until the 95th minute and Sylla’s consolation, the three points proving vital in lifting the Robins away from the immediate danger of a relegation battle.

Fiery QPR boss Ian Holloway was definitely not in the mood to mince his words after the game, and refused to defend a performance that he said “was inexplicable.”

Holloway’s frustration and anger was clear and evident in comments carried by Get West London, comments that definitely show that the QPR manager’s comments after the 2-1 defeat were raw in both nature and the manner of their delivery.

Holloway criticised his players for the way the reacted to being 2-0 down, picking apart the lackadaisical attitude that some of them had. Rounding on them Holloway said: “I show some fight and fire, I’ve absolutely ripped their faces off about that because that can’t be, that can’t be right.”

The QPR manager then went on to say that there was no way that he could stand up for how his players performed and eventually capitulated. Quite abruptly the QPR boss stated: “How can I defend the undefendable? Where’s my boys’ fight, the urgency? They [Bristol City] didn’t even have to work to score the goals. The first is pathetic from our point of view, it drops down to the edge of the box and the bloke can have a free shot.”

Fresh from their facial reconstruction, QPR will have to pick themselves up and get ready to go again on Easter Monday with what could be a hard game at home against play-off side Sheffield Wednesday.
