Newcastle, Newcastle midfielder gives warning to Leeds United

Newcastle midfielder gives warning to Leeds United

Jonjo Shelvey has issued a warning to Leeds United ahead of their crucial clash this weekend. He’s stated that he doesn’t care how the Magpies win, as long as they pick up the points.

Newcastle now sit in second place, just 2 points behind leaders Brighton and if they want to win the league they will need to throw everything at it and hope their league title rivals slip up. They have been trading places all year and now with barely anything between them the league is reaching an exciting climax. When asked about the match against the Whites Shelvey said “It doesn’t matter how you play on the night at this crucial stage of the season, it’s about getting the points.”

The midfielder has already been caught out this season for his words, more specifically the alleged racial abuse against Wolves player Romain Saiss. He was banned for five matches and was also handed a £100,000 fine. This does prove that he does on occasion let his frustration get the better of him on the pitch, suggesting he will do almost anything to win at St. James’ Park.

The game means a lot for both sides, Newcastle could confirm automatic promotion and push towards the league title. Leeds on the other hand will be going to Tyneside to cement their play off spot, fending off the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham. Reading’s temporary blip in form may mean they’ll have a chance to claim fourth spot in the Sky Bet Championship.
