Jordan Hugill wants to end the season on a high

Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill has told the Lancashire Evening Post that he hopes he can end the season on a high.

While the 24-year-old striker signed for the Lilywhites back in 2014 from Port Vale, he had struggled to get into the first team until this season. Now that he is a regular for Preston though he has become a star player and is currently their joint leading goalscorer with 11 goals and is tied for first with Callum Robinson.

It has been nothing short of a great season for Hugill and he still has hopes of breaking into the Sky Bet Championship play-off places, there is now some acknowledgement in the team that it may be a bridge too far for them this season. But now Hugill is hoping to concentrate on some personal goals such as continuing his healthy competition with Robinson for Preston’s own golden boot.

Speaking at an event where he presented the Preston Girls U11s new kits, he said: “I can only look back on this season and be happy with the progress I’ve made,”

“It’s my first full season in the Championship and I’m into double figures in goals.”

“I’m only going to improve with experience and really want to build on what I’ve done so far.”

“There’s a healthy competition with Callum and it can only be good for the team.”

Hugill will now be looking ahead to his next game which is set to be a tough test away at Huddersfield Town. The match will take place on Good Friday.
