Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham has revealed to the Bristol Post that Chelsea are yet to make any contact with him despite his impressive form.
This time last year, Abraham was a virtual unknown as he was only playing for Chelsea’s youth teams but he got his chance to test himself in professional football by moving on loan to Bristol City last summer. And he has turned out to be one of the signings of the season as he has now scored over 20 goals in the Sky Bet Championship, being impressive even when Bristol City haven’t been.
You would then assume that his parent club Chelsea would have made some contact with one of their star prospects especially as he might be someone who could be an important player for their squad for years to come. But Abraham has now said that while some of Chelsea’s senior players have reached out to tell him how well he is doing, his head coach Antonio Conte hasn’t.
He said: “I think it’s difficult for him [Conte] because he’s obviously focusing on winning the Premier League as well,”
“But players like John Terry, it’s always a massive bonus if they’re sending you a little text saying how well you’re doing. It gives you confidence.”
“I believe in myself. Only 19 years of age and competing with players much more experienced than me, and when you’re giving your 100% best you can’t ask for more.”
“I’m just going to aim for the top and try and get into that [Chelsea] team.”
