On Saturday afternoon, Sheffield United’s win against Northampton Town saw Chris Wilder secure promotion at Sixfields for the second time, but this time with the visiting team. The Blades will be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season, after a long six years in the third division of English football.
Charlton’s unexpected 2-1 win against Southend United saw them extend the gap from the relegation zone to five points, and when taking into account goal difference, a six-point deficit would be required in order to see the Addicks move into the drop zone.
Shrewsbury’s win against Rochdale, sees them move out the relegation zone.
