Warne, Rotherham United fans react to appointment of Paul Warne as new head coach

Rotherham United fans react to appointment of Paul Warne as new head coach

For months, Rotherham have technically been without a manager after they decided to wait it out after the shock departure of Kenny Jackett. The man who was told to hold the fort while the club ownership mulled over what to do next was Warne, who was able to guide the team until this point.

Unfortunately, Warne didn’t make the impact many fans were hoping for. They were at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship when he took charge and if you take a look at the table, you’ll see that they are still there. You’ll also see an R next to their name as well because after losing against Fulham at the weekend, their relegation to Sky Bet League One was confirmed.

It was something that hurt the Rotherham fans though they had been preparing for it for months. But if there was one thing that they could be excited for it, it was the fact they would be having a new man through the door to take the reins and hopefully guide them back into the Championship. Well today, Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart revealed that there would be no new manager and Warne would be the manager as they get prepared to be back in the League One.

Appointing a caretaker manager can be a bit underwhelming and for many Rotherham fans, that was the case. While he did pick up a few wins, Warne never really changed the side to make it seem like the Millers would stay in the league. That’s why the reaction was muted, if bit annoyed that he had been made the manager for good.
