Holloway, Ian Holloway praises Steve Bruce and calls him a world class manager

Ian Holloway praises Steve Bruce and calls him a world class manager

QPR head coach Ian Holloway has told West London Sport that he believes Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is world-class.

The R’s faced Aston Villa last night but unfortunately for them, they were unable to do anything and would fall to a 1-0 defeat thanks to an early goal from Jonathan Kodjia, who also scored the winner in the reverse fixture. With QPR struggling to create clear-cut chances, it would be a frustrating night for the West London side as they were unable to get the equaliser and would have to take the loss.

And while Holloway was disappointed his side couldn’t get the win, he did decide to praise the man in the other dug out after the match. He revealed that he wanted Bruce to get the England job when he was heavily linked to it following the departure of Roy Hodgson and that he genuinely believes that he is a world-class manager.

He said: “Steve for me is a world class manager,”

“People might laugh at that but you don’t get four promotions at this level if you’re not as good as he is.

“I actually wanted him for England when he was out of work.

“They (Villa) have got the right man in charge. I think he’s fantastic, they’re lucky to have him.

“There were a few grumbles because everybody wanted to spank me out of sight. But you won, well done.”

Holloway will now have to move on and hope that QPR can get the win in their next match against Brighton and Hove Albion.
