Several EFL sides including the likes of Barnsley, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers are set to compete with the Premier League in an attempt to sign Solihull Moors’ Oladapo Afolayan according to a report from the Daily Star.
Teams from the EFL and beyond are more aware of the players being produced in non-league footballer more than ever after the success stories of Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin and many believe that Afolayan could be the next big thing. While he is combining playing Solihull with his studies at Loughborough University, he has been in scintillating form recently having scored four goals in three games.
This has attracted the attention of teams across the country with there being droves of teams from the EFL heading to Solihull to get a closer look at the star striker. The teams currently believed to be scouting Afolayan are Barnsley, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Sheffield United and Grimsby Town. But all would face a tough task in signing him as they would face competition from Swansea City and Premier League champions Leicester City.
What has attracted many people to Afolayan is not just all the talent he has at the tender age of 19. He has had a good education in the game as he was once on the books at Chelsea before heading to Toronto so he can improve his overall game. It seems to have worked considering the form he is currently in and it may be that which earns him a big money move to his choice of a number of teams from the EFL.
