Jordan Hugill targets more goals and a place in the play-offs

Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill has told the Lancashire Evening Post that he wants to score more goals and get a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

It was shown at the weekend that a place in the play-offs is still up for grabs after Sheffield Wednesday dropped out of the top six after drawing with Barnsley, with Fulham taking their place after beating Rotherham United. While the Cottagers will hope to make that place their own over the next few weeks, it has energised the teams around them who want a spot in the end of season lottery.

Over the last few weeks Preston have made no bones about the fact they want a place in the play-offs, with several players coming out and saying that this is now the goal. And the list of Lilywhites demanding play-off football has got a bit bigger as now Hugill has said he wants to be in the top six at the end of the season, as well as getting on the score sheet more often.

He said: “I would like to score a few more goals, it’s been a little while since I last scored against QPR,”

“My performances have been really good though, I’ve been consistent.”

“I might not have scored but I have created stuff for other players and made space for others to play in.”

“It has been a big season for me, I remember saying to the gaffer in pre-season that all I needed was a chance.”

“I was given that chance early in the season and I’ve not looked back.”

“I want to finish this season with a few more goals, I’d like to reach 15 if I can.”

“Here we are not reliant on one player to score the majority of the goals.”

“They have come from a lot of different players which is good to see.”

“I’ve created things for Callum Robinson who has scored quite a few, while Tom Barkhuizen has come in and shown what he is all about.”
