Ipswich Town linked with move for Dons winger

Sky Bet Championship club Ipswich Town are being linked with a move for out of contract Aberdeen winger Niall McGinn according to the Daily Record.

The 29-year-old Northern Ireland international ace has spent the last five years at Pittodrie however the player will leave the club in the summer with several clubs chasing his signature.

Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts and Sky Bet League One outfit Oxford United have offered deals to the player and it is now believed that Ipswich Town would also like to sign McGinn when his contract expires.

The Tractor Boys have endured a difficult campaign in the Sky Bet Championship with Mick McCarthy’s side sitting just six points clear of the relegation zone in the league table and the club will be looking to strengthen their squad over the summer in the hope of having a more enjoyable campaign in 2017/2018.

Aberdeen winger McGinn has played his part in his side’s success in finishing as runners up in the Scottish Premiership in recent years. The former Celtic ace has made 214 appearances for The Dons and has scored an impressive 67 goals for the club.

McGinn has played in the English Football League before with the player having spent a season on loan at Brentford while he was out of favour at Celtic.
