Coventry City have won the EFL Trophy after beating Sky Bet League One rivals Oxford United 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.
The Sky Blues are currently bottom of the league table but Mark Robins’ side made a mockery of the league standings to defeat the side who are 15 places above them in the Sky Bet League One standings.
Goals from Gael Bigirimana and George Thomas gave The Sky Blues a two-goal lead before Liam Sercombe reduced the arrears 15 minutes from time. Oxford United pushed for an equaliser but Coventry City held their nerve to record a morale boosting victory.
After watching their side play at Wembley Stadium for the first time in 30 years, fans took to Twitter to give their views on both the occasion and the result.

The Wembley win was Coventry City’s second with The Sky Blues having beaten Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the 1987 FA Cup Final in their previous visit.
