Sheffield Wednesday looking to snap up Crystal Palace starlet

Sheffield Wednesday want to sign Crystal Palace’s Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong according to a report from London News Online.

The 20-year-old winger was highly rated in the Palace academy, an institution known for producing great players, and does have a year left on his professional deal but the club management seems to believe that he won’t be able to break into the first team. That means they are willing to let him leave on a free transfer in the summer and because of that, Wednesday have become interested in him.

The last couple of weeks has seen Berkeley-Agyepong go on trial with the Owls so he can try and impress them further and so far it seems like he has done that. He played well in their U23 match against Charlton Athletic and was even able to get on the scoresheet just a week later when they were facing Cardiff City. These performances were good enough for the management of Wednesday to make an attempt to sign the youngster in the summer.

The Eagles are willing to let the winger go on a free transfer, though it is believed that they will be inserting a sell-on clause into the deal to make sure they get some cash should it turn out that Berkeley-Agyepong ends up being a great pick up for Wednesday and they are able to sell him on for big money later on. And this means that Wednesday will be pick up a talented youngster for their developmental side for next to nothing.
