Jordan Rhodes admits he hasn’t scored enough goals

Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes has admitted to the Sheffield Star that he hasn’t scored enough goals for the club since he made his move to the club.

The Owls have got plenty of big name strikers on their books right now with Gary Hooper, Steven Fletcher and Sam Winnall all contracted to the side, but they were still eager to get the goalscorer that could get them to the Premier League. Many thought they had that man when Rhodes completed his move to Hillsborough after years of reports linking him to South Yorkshire.

However while Rhodes hasn’t exactly been goal shy, he’s scored three times in ten appearances, many fans think he should have been able to score more, especially as he missed a penalty against West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United. And now Rhodes himself has admitted he should be getting on the score sheet more often, especially as they close in on the end of the season. He however did add that it is more important that the team score rather than just him.

He said: “It would be nice (to have more goals) but it is not about me,” .

“It is all about Sheffield Wednesday picking up the points.”

“When selected and out there, I will work as hard as I can to do my job as a striker to set up goals or score them.”

Everyone has their own philosophies, as to how to get back on track,”

“There is no one answer, or otherwise everyone would be playing at the top.”

“Football is a game of opinions, isn’t it? We just have to work as hard as we can and stay united as a group. Players, fans, staff alike. We have to keep going.”

“We actually did all right against Reading. I would think many would agree with that. It was just a shame we couldn’t get that goal, as come the end of the match there is only one stat that counts.”
