Kenlock, Ipswich Town: Blues prospect tied down until 2019

Ipswich Town: Blues prospect tied down until 2019

Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town have tied 20-year-old Myles Kenlock down with a contract that keeps him in Suffolk until 2019.

The Town number 30 is highly-rated among the Blues supporters and has performed well when he required this season.

Kenlock would have been out of contract at the end of the season, but the 20-year-old was offered a contract which he gratefully accepted.

Since making his Tractor Boys debut at the tail end of last season, Kenlock has progressed to make 16 appearances for the Blues.

The Tractor Boys fought off competition from a number of clubs, including some sides in the Premier League, to sign the teenager in 2014 as a scholar.

The left-back graduated from the Blues’ academy system last season and made his debut in a Capital One Cup victory over Stevenage.

After signing his extended contract, Kenlock said: “Obviously I am delighted to have signed a new contract here.

“I feel I have made a lot of progress this year and it’s been great to have been involved in the first-team squad regularly and playing games in the Championship.” he explained.

“I know that I have still got a lot to learn in the game but this is a great club to be learning at and I want to keep moving forward.”

Next up for the lowly Ipswich Town is an important tie against Birmingham City this weekend. With both sides level on points in the Sky Bet Championship, either side will be looking to gain three points in their push to avoid an end-of-season relegation scrap.
