Millwall, Rams and Blades to battle for Millwall goal machine

Rams and Blades to battle for Millwall goal machine

Derby County and Sheffield United are believed to be weighing up moves for Millwall striker Lee Gregory in the summer according to the Derby Telegraph.

The 28-year-old Sheffield born hotshot has impressed for The Lions this season with the player netting 15 goals in 37 appearances for the club.

The former Northern Premier Division striker has now bagged 51 goals for Millwall since signing for the club from non league outfit FC Halifax Town in summer 2014.

Should Millwall fail to earn promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship this season, it is believed that Gregory will be able to leave The New Den if any interested club meets a buy-out clause in the player’s contract. It is understood that the striker will not be short of offers with Derby County and Sheffield United reportedly interested in signing Gregory.

After suffering another disappointing mid-season collapse in English football’s second tier this season, Derby County could be looking for a striker capable of firing the club back to the Premier League next season while Sheffield United may hope to bring Gregory back to his home city with The Blades likely to gain promotion from Sky Bet League One.

Gregory has previously spent just one season of his career in playing in the Sky Bet Championship but the player  displayed his potential with nine goals in 39 league matches at that level.
