Positive update on Nottingham Forest striker Matty Fryatt

According to the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest striker Matty Fryatt has resumed light training after two years out of action with injury. He last played at first team level in March 2015 against Charlton Athletic but an Achilles injury has sidelined him ever since. He is now closing in on a comeback.

The former Leicester City and Hull City front man is believed to have taken part in a number of sessions over the last week and the medical team now believe he could be ready to have full contact training sessions with the rest of his teammates. Fryatt has had many surgical procedures performed on him over the last many months to finally bring an end to his injury issues.

Although he is clearly still a long, long way off match fitness and actually taking to the City Ground turf in a competitive game once again, there is certainly light at the end of the tunnel for Fryatt. Since joining on a free transfer from Hull in 2014, he has only been able to start 17 matches at Sky Bet Championship level. His last goal came in February 2015 in the 3-0 away victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Central defender Matt Mills is said to be another player closing in on a return to action. Although he certainly hasn’t been out for as long as Fryatt, the former Reading man was only meant to be out for approximately three weeks. However, he has been out of action for the best part of two months, and the club have since brought Mark Warburton into the club as manager since then. For Fryatt, many manager’s have come and gone since he last kicked a ball!
