Blackburn Rovers moving in the right direction under Tony Mowbray

Blackburn Rovers’ Elliott Bennett has told the Lancashire Telegraph that they are moving in the right direction under new head coach Tony Mowbray.

No one was surprised to see Owen Coyle be sacked as Blackburn manager earlier in the season, but many were shocked when they decided to appoint Mowbray as his replacement. While he had done ok for a while in his previous job as Coventry City head coach, his last few months were a disaster and he resigned with the Sky Blues at the very bottom of Sky Bet League One.

Yet at the moment, it seems to be an appointment that is working for Blackburn as since his appointment, they have gone unbeaten and there’s more hope with the fans than they’ve had all season. And while they are still stuck in the relegation zone, Bennett believes that they are now moving in the right direction and have a good chance of avoiding the drop.

He said: “I should be talking about taking seven points from nine but instead we’re talking about three,”

“That’s the major thing that we have to get, we need those points on the board.”

“It’s okay having good performances and dominating games, but to concede in the manner that we did against Preston is gut-wrenching.”

“The sense in the dressing room was one of massive disappointment.”

“The two results away from home were good, we were disappointed with the Norwich game when we should have come away with all three again, and going in to the home game we wanted three points because it made those two on the road even better.”

“You don’t want to drop points but we have been to Norwich, Fulham and played Preston and I think we completely dominated them.”

“We’re hugely disappointed but I think we’re making strides in the right direction and we need to turn those points in to three.”
