Bristol City manager Lee Johnson continues to prove his doubters wrong as his side recorded a stunning 4-0 victory over Play Off chasing Huddersfield Town at Ashton Gate on Friday evening.

Goals from Lee Tomlin, Tammy Abraham, Aden Flint and David Cotterill helped lift the gloom which has been surrounding the club for weeks and give Johnson’s side a huge boost in their fight for Sky Bet Championship survival.

Fans have protested for their manager’s sacking in recent weeks following a torrid run of results with many indicating that Johnson had lost the support of the dressing room and that the club were relegation certainties just two years after gaining promotion to the second tier.

Despite the misery descending upon Ashton Gate, Johnson has remained determined to turn the club’s fortunes around and there are now green shoots of recovery after a run of four league matches without defeat in which the club have collected eight points.

The recent 1-1 home draw against Norwich City saw some fans claim that the second half performance was the best for some time and The Robins have displayed both their battling and footballing qualities in the back-to-back victories over Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town which have followed.

There is still a lot of work to be done by Johnson and his troops between now and the end of the season however recent results have given the club real survival hopes and it is clear that everyone at Bristol City is fighting to keep the club in the division.
