Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough has told the club website that captain John Mousinho was unlucky not to be in the first team for the match against Nottingham Forest.
When you are the captain of a football team, you’d expect that you would start the majority of matches. However while Mousinho had been in great form for a large part of the season, he has been dropped to the bench for the last few games and had to watch from the sidelines as Burton claimed a great 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Clough has admitted that Mousinho has been unlucky for the last few weeks but has been thankful that he has been very mature about it and knows he has done it to give the team the best chance to win. But Clough has also said that he is ready to step in at any time and could be a big influence in their next match against Brentford.
He said: “The one who has been unlucky is John Mousinho. He understands the situation that we pick the team we think will get us the best result on that day.”
“He was playing as well as anybody but we feel our best centre back pairing is Kyle McFadzean and Ben Turner.”
“John has been unfortunate to miss out the last couple of games but he’s such a good influence around the place.”
“He’s our captain and we know that if we need him at any time he will be ready to step straight in.”
