Huddersfield Town’s Nahki Wells has told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner that he trusts Collin Quaner to start scoring goals very soon.
Quaner was seen as one of Huddersfield’s big signings in the January transfer window as head coach David Wagner once again looked to Germany to sign a player that will help them in their bid to get promoted. He started off brilliantly and excited the fans when he scored on his debut against Rochdale but despite keeping his spot in the first team, he hasn’t scored since.
This has made some fans fear they have signed a flop and that he should be dropped from the first team to make sure they don’t miss out on promotion. But his team-mate and striking partner Wells has asked for patience with Quaner, saying he is a great player and that he will soon be scoring goals on the regular for Huddersfield.
He said: “You have to understand he’s coming over from playing in Germany and you have to understand it’s going to take time.”
“He’s come in and played his fair share of minutes and I think he’s done well so far.”
“I’m pretty sure he’d like to get the goals and get a bit of luck in front of goal, but that comes with perseverance and determination and sticking at it.”
“We know this season it has been difficult for any striker in the way we play and how chances are created for us.”
“I’m pretty sure he understands he has to stick at it and stay focused and take the opportunities when they come because they don’t come as frequent as we would have liked.”
“It’s difficult but he’s done well so far and he just has to stick at it and takes his chances when they come.”
