Winger Jack Mackreth joins Macclesfield Town

Bury’s Jack Mackreth has signed a loan deal with Macclesfield Town for the remainder of this season, making this his third return to the club.

The 24-year-old began his first spell with the Silkmen back in the summer of 2012. Macclesfield Town started a new season in the Conference after suffering relegation the previous season. Mackreth was one of the first players to sign a new deal with the club the following season after they finished 11th in the league. He made a total of 7 goals in 78 appearances under managers, Steve King (in the 2012-13 season) and John Askey (2013-) before signing for Grimsby Town in 2014.

In 2016, Mackreth made his return to the Cheshire side after his short-term contract at Tranmere Rovers was chosen to not be extended. He played in a total of 22 appearances but failed to score for the club.

The Silkmen are in need of a boost as they sit 9th in the league. Mackreth isn’t a stranger to the club and knows how Askey likes to play his men on the pitch. When the winger made the move to Bury in January, Askey said: “We want players to come in, do well for us and then move on to a higher level.” [Source: Macclesfield Town Official Website] He only made three appearances for the Shakers and fans have agreed that he has shown his dedication judging by his performance.

Macclesfield Town faces Tranmere Rovers in the FA Trophy on Saturday at Prenton Park, but Jack Mackreth is ineligible to play.
