QPR Boss Praises United After Stalemate At Elland Road

Ian Holloway has given Leeds, as well as singling out Garry Monk, credit following Saturdays 0-0 bore draw at Elland Road; a result which non would have hoped for, but continues United’s six game unbeaten run.

In his press conference following the frustrating game for both sides, the QPR manager gave his players credit for matching Leeds’ playing style. ‘It’s very good what Leeds do, and we matched that today’, Holloway stated. The former Crystal Palace man followed by saying, ‘I tipped Leeds for the play-offs (before the beginning of the season) and I was happy to throw my hat in the ring because I know how good Garry Monk is’. Before Holloway was appointed The Hoops manager he was working for Sky Sports, where he predicted Leeds to finish 6th, which many at the time was a questionable prediction.

Holloway also has a lot of respect for Leeds manager Garry Monk; ‘Its a matter of time before he’s successful. He makes players better and gives them a pattern to work to.’. Although Leeds failed to register a shot on target yesterday afternoon, Monk has won 25 out of his 44 games in charge of The Whites making him the most successful manager to be appointed in the Cellino era.

Yesterdays performance was not up to the usual standard shown by Leeds this season; with many passes going astray, within the midfield especially. Bridcutt, Vieira and particularly Hernandez were not firing on all cylinders, which resulted in a lack of chances created in attack and a total of four shots; non of which troubled Alex Smithies in the QPR goal, who was not required to make a save.

However, arguably at this stage of the season it is more important to be collecting points rather than to be performing well and not being rewarded, as Leeds need to keep fighting within the Championship playoffs to guarantee they will be there at the end of the season in nine games time.
