Newcastle United plan on signing Burnley striker following promotion

Newcastle United are planning on making a move for Burnley’s Andre Gray should they be promoted to the Premier League according to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle.

While promotion is not yet a certainty for the Magpies, it is definitely likely as they currently sit on the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a six point cushion over 3rd place Huddersfield Town. Because of this, they have already started to plan for their potential return to the Premier League and have got a list of targets they want should they end up getting promoted.

The main priority for Newcastle is going to be trying to sign two new strikers, especially with one of their current forwards Aleksandar Mitrovic being unsure of his future with the club. And one of the strikers they are wanting to be signed has been revealed in a report as Andre Gray.

The former Brentford striker has had a meteoric rise up the league ladder after starting his career in non-league football and scored 23 goals last season to get Burnley promoted into the Premier League. He has done well in his first season in the top-tier as well as he’s scored nine goals this year. But he only has a year left on his contract and Newcastle will be looking to play up fears he may walk on a free at the end of the year so they can force the Clarets to cash in. This would certainly be a statement that they’d be back in the big time by signing of their rivals’ best players.
