Sessegnon, Liverpool closing in on 16-year-old Championship wonderkid

Liverpool closing in on 16-year-old Championship wonderkid

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on Fulham’s teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon, according to The Sun.

The 16-year-old left back has earned rave reviews this season with some stunning displays for Championship side Fulham, and has been attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Spurs.

Sessegnon has made 18 appearances for The Cottagers this season, but his most iconic performance came in Saturday’s shock 3-1 away win over Newcastle.

Venturing forward from the left back position, the teenager bagged two well-taken goals, before being denied a chance of a hat-trick by Tim Ream, who took an injury time penalty off the youngster before blazing it wide.

Despite his tender age, Sessegnon is already looking at home in the Championship, consistently performing whether played at left back or on the wing.

This versatility has only increased his stock amongst England’s elite, and the race to snap up the Championship’s hottest young talent is heating up.

£10 million is the minimum asking price that Fulham are demanding, but that price could prove a bargain should the England youth international continue to progress at the current rate.

Liverpool are the side reportedly closest to having a deal accepted, but Sessegnon will be happy to see out the season and hopefully push Fulham into the Play-Offs in The Whites’ final 10 league games.

Should Fulham get promoted they might be able to keep hold of their teenage sensation, but if he does decide to jump ship then it’s likely that he will be spoilt for choice, with multiple parties interested.
