Bradford City have signed former Sunderland midfielder, Dan Pybus after the youngster’s departure was announced last month.
The Black Cats had announced on deadline day that young duo Jordan Blinco and Dan Pybus had left the club. Pybus had scored 15 goals in an astonishing 23 appearances for Sunderland’s U18 team which caught the eye of U23’s coach, Andy Welsh, giving the talented midfielder his opportunity to play. He signed for the U23 side at the beginning of the season.
Pybus has now joined Stuart McCall’s squad and seems to have settled into the League One side: “Having trained with the lads already, I feel more confident now around the club.”
“It would be nice to get in and around the first team as soon as possible as well.” He added.
Pybus is eager to make his first team debut before the season.
Opinion:
I think that Pybus could be a threat this next season, whether that be remaining in League One or if the Bantams can push themselves in the play-offs to reach the Championship side. He had an outstanding performance in the U18 squad last season and has the potential to redeem his efforts with the Yorkshire side.
He’s still very young and the move to Bradford City will help improve and give him the experience he needs. He claimed in his interview, “There are a lot of good midfielders here and I can learn things from them.” He will work alongside the likes of Josh Cullen (who is on loan from West Ham United), Mark Marshall and captain, Romain Vincelot.
Bradford City take on Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. Could we see Pybus in the line-up?
