Premier League hopefuls Newcastle United will offload Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer according to the Express.
The 22-year-old Smederevo born frontman has struggled for game time at periods throughout the season and despite making 23 appearances for The Magpies, many of those outings have come from the bench.
It has now been reported that Newcastle United will look to cut their losses on the striker who cost the club £13 million to sign him from Belgian club Anderlecht in summer 2015 and allow Mitrovic to leave St James’ Park.
With Newcastle United destined for a swift return to the Premier League, Mitrovic could find himself lining up against The Magpies next season with at least three Premier League clubs thought to be interested in signing the striker. London pair West Ham United and Crystal Palace are believed to be weighing up moves for the player while at least one other top flight club is said to be monitoring the situation.
Mitrovic started his career in his homeland with Teleoptik and Partizan Belgrade before joining Belgian Pro League club Anderlecht in August 2013. The striker bagged 44 goals in just 90 appearances for The Purple and Whites before Newcastle United came calling for the player’s services in summer 2015.
The Serbian striker has been in and out of the Newcastle United side during his time on Tyneside and Mitrovic may now be set for a move in a bid to gain more regular first team game time.
