Norwich: Canaries set to rival Crystal Palace for non-league winger

Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City will need to fight off an offer from Premier League side Crystal Palace for non-league winger Matt Allan.

The Canaries sit nine points behind Sheffield Wednesday who occupy the final play-off spot. However, after selling winger Robbie Brady to Burnley, Alex Neil has turned to the lower leagues to source his replacement.

The Championship side are reportedly interested in Histon’s Matt Allan, with the winger currently playing in step four of the non-league pyramid, seven levels below Norwich City.

The young winger has attracted attention after smashing his way to 16 goals for his team from midfield, despite his club sitting 21st and facing relegation to the eighth tier of English football.

Crystal Palace are also believed to be interested in Allan, however Norwich seems the more keen party – with reports stating they have watched the youngster and are looking at the possibility of offering him a trial at Carrow Road.

Yesterday it was confirmed that St Neots Town had accepted the offer for Jevani Brown to trial for Birmingham City.

The 22-year-old is the latest player to have risen from the rags to riches, following in the footsteps of Demari Gray, Jamie Vardy and Ian Wright.

Brown was playing in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier prior to the approach, however the attention was brought after scoring eleven times in eleven games since joining from Stamford at the start of the year.

Brown, a former Peterborough United youngster, has since dropped out of the Football League enjoying stints with Barton Rovers, Wingate & Finchley and Kettering Town.
