One of the top Midfielders for Bristol Rovers this season, Ollie Clarke, has signed an extended deal for an undisclosed period with the League One club earlier this morning.
Clarke has been outstanding and has been one of the players to watch this season. He started his football career with the Pirates’ youth system and graduated to go on and play for the first team in 2009. He’s made a total of 125 league appearances and 11 goals for Bristol Rovers. He went on a series of loan spells between 2010-2012 to Gloucester City, Mangotsfield United and Clevedon Town.
Darrell Clarke is hopeful for Clarke and hopes that this extended deal will help improve further. “Ollie is an integral member of our squad and he has improved as a player during our first season back in League One.”
The 24-year-old is pleased with his offer and described it as a “great feeling to be staying at the club”.
“When you enter the final months of your contract you want to try to get something sorted for the following season.” – Clarke on preparing for next season.
I think Ollie Clarke has been brilliant this season. He has worked extremely well alongside the rest of the midfielders and scored his 11th league goal against Oxford United. He deserves this extended deal on his contract and like Darrell Clarke has said that he’s only 24 and he still can improve.
He is a key player for the club and will be for the following season ahead. We’re challenging ourselves to reach the play-offs at the end of this season and this deal for the midfielder gives him that push of motivation to make sure he stays in this form of play.
