Bristol Rovers’ Chris Lines has signed a new undisclosed deal with the back-to-back promoted League One side.
The 31-year old has been at the club since 2002, where he started his youth career at the Bristol Academy of Sport at 16. He made a total of 168 league appearances between 2004-2011 where he then signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a three-year contract for £50,000. He only managed to score just three goals out of 47 appearances for the Owls.
In 2014, Lines made a return to the Memorial Stadium and re-signed for the Pirates on loan for the rest of the 2014-15 season and went on to sign a permanent deal after his contract at his parent club, Port Vale was cancelled by mutual consent.
Manager Darrell Clarke on Lines: “He is a very intelligent footballer and I am delighted that he has decided to extend his time with the club.”
The Midfielder had a lot to say about his new contract: “It’s always nice to get your contract sorted out before the end of the season and I honestly say that it’s a great feeling and I’m happy to be staying. It’s been a great season so far and I can now look forward to next season as well as the final ten games of this campaign.”
I am happy that Lines has signed a new deal with the club. He’s been in great form so far this season and he’s been a dedicated player for years. He scored an excellent goal against Bradford City at home last month and I hope he can keep up his performance until the end of this season.
