No serious takeover bids at Nottingham Forest according to owner

Nottingham Forest’s controversial owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has told the Nottingham Post that there have been no ‘serious’ offers from potential suitors to buy the club.

The Kuwaiti businessman has added that he does not expect that situation to change before the end of the season.

The Reds saw a proposed takeover bid from American tycoon John Jay Moores fall through in January, to the well-publicised frustration of all involved with the club.

However, although a formal takeover bid is yet to come, Al-Hasawi has admitted that he has been in conversation with a number of interested parties.

He said: “At the moment there are no serious offers for the club. People have spoken to us, but there is nothing serious worth talking about.

“There are people who talk to us about this all the time, but there is a big difference between that and somebody making a serious offer to buy the club.

“There is not anyone, at this point, who we are talking to seriously, about wanting to buy the club.

“The priority now is to make sure we are safe this season. Nothing else. Nothing is happening at the minute, in terms of any serious interest in the club. If somebody comes along in the summer, with the right kind of offer, who is equipped to take the club forward, we will talk.

“Otherwise, we will concentrate on making sure that the club does not get relegated this season. We are doing our best to ensure that Forest remain in this division.

“Once we have done that, if somebody comes along in the summer with a serious offer, we can talk about it.”

Nottingham Forest welcome promotion contenders Brighton to the City Ground next weekend, as they look to return to winning ways following Saturday’s stalemate with Wigan Athletic.
