Third time lucky for Forest as new takeover bid looms

Fans of troubled Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest may have fresh hopes of new investment at The City Ground with the club having received a new takeover enquiry according to the Nottingham Post.

The Reds’ Kuwaiti owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has came close to attracting new investment to the club on two previous occasions in the last 12 months but deals with the chairman of Capital Maritime & Trading Corp and Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis and an American led consortium collapsed when on the verge of completion.

It has now been revealed that Al Hasawi has received a new enquiry from a group of potential investors from overseas with the news providing long suffering Forest fans with fresh hopes of a new era at The City Ground.

The identities of the members of the consortium are unknown however it is believed that the takeover enquiry is from a new group and is not an attempt to rekindle a previous takeover bid from Marinakis or the American group led by the former owner of the San Diego Padres, John Jay Moores.

Nottingham Forest are in real need of new investment with The Reds having endured a turbulent campaign in the Sky Bet Championship which sees the club hanging just six points above the relegation zone.

The point recorded in the 0-0 draw at Wigan Athletic on Saturday was the club’s first in four matches while Forest face league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion in their next fixture at The City Ground on Saturday.
