Leeds United fans react to news of team line-up vs Sheffield Wednesday

It could not be any more finely poised for both sides at Elland Road as fifth-placed Leeds and sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday are separated by just goal difference ahead of today’s game.

The early kick-off will see the sides battle away fro tree important points in an attempt by each to create a definite gap of three points between the two, creating a mini ‘comfort zone’ in the all-important promotion play-off places.

Last time out, it was Leeds who emerged victors at Hillsborough with goals from Marcus Antonsson and Chris Wood giving the Whites their only three points in their opening half-dozen games. Fast-forward from that game and you are looking at two totally different sides, well at least two differently focused sides.

Sheffield Wednesday have looked to bolster an already potent attack, adding the likes of the promising Sam Winnall and dangerous Jordan Rhodes to a side containing Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri. Leeds have chosen to go in a similar attacking vein but have added width and guile in the form of Alfonso Pedraza, Mo Barrow and the mercurial talents of Pablo Hernández. This is alongside the addition of crowd favourite Pontus Jansson – a defender of ludicrous quality for the Sky Bet Championship.

Leeds United team news and fan reaction

The Whites have chosen to name a side with two changes as Garry Monk and his management team look for an all-important three points in front of what will be a sold-out Elland Road. Promising youngster Ronaldo Vieira is dropped to the bench and his place is taken by club captain Liam Bridcutt, who himself came on from the bench and replaced Vieira against the tractor Boys.

The other change is down the left flank where last weekend’s equalising goal scorer Stuart Dallas is relegated to a bench place with the hustle-and-bustle of Frenchman Souleymane Doukara preferred to the Northern Ireland international.

On thing that Leeds fans can look forward to is the attacking strength and potential from the bench with Dallas joining the likes of fleet-footed Mo Barrow, the trickery and drive of Spaniard Alfonso Pedraza and the potential of Kemar Roofe.

As with any release of the team news, Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to discuss what they are going to see playing out in front of them in less than an hour.

Leeds fan Matty looks at it in terms of a battle between two players and who has the edge.

Meanwhile, Twitter user and Leeds fan Mikey’s Twittor feels a little aghast that Gambian Mo Barrow isn’t starting.

For this fan, it’s simply a case of why sign up £20 million worth of loan deals and play Doukara.

Damion just hopes that his nerves can hold out.

When it comes to today’s game, Adrian is another fan who simply can’t believe that Doukara gets another start.

With the game less than an hour away, Leeds fan Sondra says that he hopes that Frenchman Doukara proves the doubters wrong by putting ‘in a shift’.

Leeds fan David is just simply pleased and tips a hat to Garry Monk.

Luke is hands clasped and eyes closed on today’s game – most Leeds fans will be feeling the same.
