Cardiff City confirm manager stay for next season – fan reactions

Cardiff City have just announced that Neil Warnock is to stay on at the Bluebirds next season in a post to the club’s official Twitter feed (below) as well as at a press conference, as reported by Wales Online.

Speculation had been rife that Warnock’s future may not include a stay at Cardiff with suggestions that the 68-year-old would walk away from the club unless his ambitions were matched by those behind the scenes at the club.

Cardiff are on a decent run of form at the moment, with three wins on the bounce and four wins from their last six games. In their last three games, all victories, Cardiff have been banging in the goals at some rate, having scored 11 goals and conceded just the three.

Warnock obviously sees some promise in the side, but has ambitions that the Bluebirds should be pushing for promotion and is wanting his ambitions backed by the board. Cardiff’s recent good run of form has seen them climb into 12th place in the table, a position of relative safety. The Welsh side sit 15 points away from the mire of the drop zone, whilst sitting 13 points away from the promotion play-off places.

Speaking to BBC Wales Sport, Warnock said of the deal: “I’ll be here as long as the fans want me. Because if they want me I will be doing a good job.”

The news of Warnock agreeing to sign on for an extra season has definitely had an effect on Cardiff City fans who have taken to Twitter to express their views.

After the upturn in fortune and results, Bluebirds fans are obviously happy that they have who they consider the right man in place for the job.

The happy reaction continues as fans no doubt see the signing as a solid basis that the club can begin to build on now, with a view to looking to develop next season.

With Warnock signing on for next season, the big question is whether the club can match the promotion specialist’s ambitions and supply him with a war chest that will enable the Bluebirds to soar in their next Sky Bet Championship campaign.
