Peterborough United’s Play-Off push has faultered somewhat over the past month or so, with many fans fearing that the FA Cup curse has hit the club again.

Last season, a penalty shoot-out defeat to Premier League side West Brom dumped Posh out of the FA Cup. What saw this saw Posh fall from fifth to fourteenth in the Sky Bet League One table.

When Posh travelled to Chelsea in this season’s FA Cup third round tie, they sat comfortably in sixth place, despite three draws in three games over the Christmas period.

Now, they find themselves struggling down in ninth, knowing that this week’s games at home to Southend United and Rochdale will either make or break their season.

To make the task facing Peterborough even harder, the following week sees them travel to promotion chasers Millwall and Bradford.

It seems that Posh fans on Twitter aren’t particularly confident about their team’s chances of reaching the Play-Offs this year, despite the fact that they’re only three points away from Sixth place.

If Peterborough United can pick up points from their next four crucial games, then there’s no reason why they can’t reach the Play-Offs.

Of course, automatic promotion is well out of the question now, but the Posh still have all of the top teams to play.

As mentioned before, they welcome Southend and Rochdale to ABAX Stadium this coming week, before trips to The Den and Valley Parade to face Millwall and Bradford respectively.

They also have to play Fleetwood Town at home, before a trip to Bolton Wanderers on the last day of the season.

Basically, it is in their own hands. If the team can pull their finger out and get the wins that they need, then why can’t they reach the Play-Offs?

They’ve certainly got the talent, and the January transfer window was a huge success for the club.

Peterborough managed to keep hold of all of their players in the transfer market, unlike last season when the loss of Conor Washington hit them hard.

The likes of Forrester, Maddison, Baldwin and Da Silva Lopes all remain with the club, and can help them push on and achieve their goals this season.

Also, Grant McCann has grilled his players after their ill-discipline cost them a point in their Sky Bet League One game at Walsall on Saturday, and they will be keen to bounce back in style and show the manager what this football club means to them.
