Sky Bet toppers have been dealt a blow with news that midfielder Isaac Hayden has been ruled out of action for at least a month with an ankle injury according to the Chronicle Live.

The 21-year-old Chelmsford born midfielder who can also operate as a centre half has been struggling with the injury for a number of weeks and has been feeling pain around the ankle area.

It has been reported that Hayden has undergone surgery on the injury problem and the player will now be ruled out of action for around four weeks. It is hoped that the midfielder’s operation will cure the complaint without any reoccurrence of the injury.

Newcastle United signed Hayden last summer on a five-year deal from Premier League giants Arsenal for an undisclosed fee. The youngster has soon become a hit at St James’ Park with the midfielder making 32 appearances in all competitions for The Magpies and scoring his first goal for the club in the 4-1 home win over Reading back in August.

The player is a product of the Arsenal academy system but Hayden managed just two senior appearances for The Gunners in the and was loaned out to while at The Emirates Stadium.

Hayden is likely to miss at least six league games including clashes with promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, and Reading.
