League One leaders Sheffield United host Scunthorpe United on Saturday in a huge clash between the top two teams in the division.
Blades boss Chris Wilder made five changes to his starting eleven against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. The Sheffield-born manager wanted to rotate the squad and ensure key players were recharged and ready for battle this weekend.
Goalkeeper Simon Moore suffered a broken nose midweek but is expected to start against Scunthorpe despite the injury. January signing James Hanson, who scored on his debut, missed the trip to Memorial Ground but returned to training on Thursday and Chris Wilder has confirmed the striker’s availability for the weekend.
Mark Duffy, Billy Sharp and Kieron Freeman will all be expected to return to the starting line-up. The trio have over 100 appearances between them this season.
Ethan Ebanks-Landell, who came on as a second-half substitute against the Pirates midweek, is now fully fit after a hip injury and will be hoping to be recalled to the starting eleven.
Leon Clark remains sidelined with an ankle injury and has made just one appearance for the Blades this year.
For Scunthorpe, the promotion candidates will again be without the services of defender Jordan Clarke but midfielder Sam Mantom will face a late fitness evaluation. The 24-year-old Manton has been an important player for the Iron this term, accumulating 26 appearances.
Sheffield-born defender David Mirfin was recalled to the match day squad last week, having not played since November, and will be hoping to start his third successive game in his home city.
