Wolves: FA Cup opponents set to play team of stars

Blackburn Rovers’ FA Cup opponents, Manchester United, are set to play an incredibly strong side against the Lancashire side this weekend.

Rovers have won just once in their last six League games and Owen Coyle’s side look to make an end to their run of form by beating their Premier League opponents.

The Red Devils won 3-0 against Saint-Etienne in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening at Old Trafford, with Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting a hat-trick.

And after completing a hat-trick, Ibrahimovic looks set to be rested by Jose Mourinho, with young sensation Marcus Rashford set to take the Swedish striker’s spot up-front.

The Reds will most likely make eight changes to the team that started against French side Saint-Etienne. Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Marcus Rojo and Luke Shaw are set to make-up United’s defensive back line.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jesse Lingard, Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford will then complete the Manchester side’s attacking options.

Lingard and Rashford both featured in their midweek as second half substitutes, whilst Rojo, Schweinsteiger and Darmian were unused substitutes.

Rovers will be downhearted by the loss of midfield pairing Hope Akpan and Eliott Bennett. The pair have both been given bans following Tuesday night’s Championship match at Sheffield Wednesday.

Akpan begins the first of his three-match suspension for violent conduct whilst Bennett begins his two-match suspension following usage of offensive language at the final whistle.
