Robins flop set to return to Sweden

Injury plagued Bristol City striker Gustav Engvall is expected to join Swedish Allsvenskan club Djurgarden on loan according to the Bristol Post.

Reports in Sweden have linked the player with a return to his homeland following a disastrous spell at Ashton Gate since joining Bristol City in a reported £2 million deal from IFK Gothenburg last summer.

Engvall has made just six appearances for The Robins this season with only two of those appearances coming in Sky Bet Championship matches. The striker has failed to find the back of the net for Bristol City while the player has spent time on the sidelines after suffering from a catalogue of niggling injuries.

The 20-year-old Kalmar born striker started his career in the lower reaches of Swedish football with Farjestadens GoIF before signing for IFK Gothenburg in 2012. The player went on to score 21 goals in 84 appearances for The Angels while Engvall was named the Swedish Allsvenskan Newcomer of the Year in 2014.

The youngster’s good performances in his homeland have not gone unnoticed and Engvall earned his first international call up to the Swedish full international side last year.

It has been reported that Engvall’s proposed loan move hinges upon the fitness of Bristol City striker Tammy Abraham who picked up an injury in The Robins’ defeat at Leeds United earlier this week.
