Ipswich: Town boss highlights opportunity for strikers

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has highlighted the opportunity for strikers due to Tom Lawrence’s absence through suspension.

The Tractor Boys were awarded five yellow cards in their 1-1 draw on the South Coast against Brighton, and Lawrence’s booking meant that the on-loan striker misses the Blues’ two upcoming games: against Leeds United and Norwich City.

“It’s disappointing for us and for Tom that he’s going to miss two big games,” the Town boss said.
“Some of the bookings he has got – including on Tuesday night – have been for dissent and he’s got to learn from that. He’s got to keep his mouth shut.
“He has been faboulous for us and he was again at Brighton. Their ‘keeper made a great save to stop him scoring in the second-half. He can’t affect the game though if he’s not on the pitch.
“We will be without him for two games but that’s gone now. It’s an opportunity for someone else now to step up and take over from Tom.”
