Free agents must be able to break into Blackburn Rovers first team if they want to sign

Blackburn Rovers head coach Owen Coyle has told the Lancashire Telegraph that any free agents they sign must be able to break into the first team straight away.

The Lancashire club are currently battling against relegation, they are currently 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship after losing 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday last night, and with emergency loans being banned this season, the only way they can improve the squad is through signing free agents.

This is something that Blackburn have been exploring over the last few weeks with Paul Caddis and Lucas Magni training with the club with there being the potential of a permanent deal. But Coyle has said they won’t just be signing anyone so they can make up the numbers and if they do end up signing any of the free agents available, it’ll be because they can break right into the first team and make an instant impact.

He said: If it was the right player who we think could help us then of course we would love to bring them in,”

“I think that would give everyone at the club a boost, but when all is said and done, they need to be the right quality to come in and play not just be a body coming in for a body’s sake.

“When we look at it they need to be able to come in and help us and that’s the way it’s got to be.”

Before they sign any players though, Blackburn have a show stopping game against Manchester United at the weekend.
