Why Jerome Sinclair decided to join Birmingham City

Jerome Sinclair has told the Birmingham Mail that he moved to Birmingham City so he could be closer to his family.

The 20-year-old striker moved on loan to the Blues from Watford towards the end of the January transfer window when it seemed like he had been linked to almost every single club in the Sky Bet Championship. For the Blues it was a huge boost as they were looking for any player who could provide the spark to help them end the bad run of form they have been one since the sacking of Gary Rowett and appointment of Gianfranco Zola.

But the reason Sinclair decided to make the switch to Birmingham was so he could live close to his family. He was originally from Birmingham and went through the West Bromwich Albion academy before being snapped up by Liverpool and he hasn’t lived in the West Midlands since. So when given the opportunity to head back to Birmingham, he jumped at the chance.

He said: “When I got the chance to play for the Blues I jumped at it, really,”

“All my family are still based in Birmingham, so being up here I get to spend a lot more time with my family and brothers and sisters.”

“I’ve been away up north and down south, so it’s good to be back here for a little while.”

“Hopefully I can keep playing games, have more influence on the results, and try and score some goals for the team because we need it.”

“Turning around the results is the main thing, and if I can be a part of that then I’ll be happy.”
