Coventry City equal poor record

Coventry City’s 3-2 loss against Oldham Athletic yesterday has equalled a record lasting for five years back to their Championship days as the number of games without a win has now stretched to fourteen.

Their last win came against Chesterfield all the way back on the 1st of November when the Sky Blues came out as 2-0 victors thanks to second half goals from Jordan Willis and Andy Rose. However since then everything has gone downhill for Coventry, there have been protests, no less than three pitch invasions, confirmation of a trip to Wembley.

One thing that has remained constant however is the poor league form as they now sit rock bottom of League One, a whole 10 points adrift from safety. It will take an absolute miracle to keep them up, and for a team that have scored the same amount of goals in the league as they have in cup competitions, it will need to be a large one.

That leads nicely on to a silver lining for their season, Tuesday night confirmed that they will be going to Wembley for the final of the Checkatrade Trophy which is great for the club but also will be overshadowed as relegation may be confirmed by that point.

If they do want to stay up then the next few games are crucial, Wimbledon on Tuesday is the first stop, quickly followed up by out of form Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena. Anything less than 6 points from these games and City might as well say goodbye to Bramall Lane and the Valley, then hello to Broadfield Stadium and Adams Park.
